Fan favourite Thomsen back with Poole Pirates for 2025

Tobias Thomsen agreed terms to return to Poole Pirates in 2025 and insisted: “That is about the only place I wanted to be.”

The dynamic Dane became a crowd favourite at Wimborne Road last season, as he wowed supporters with his trademark doughnuts on the way to helping Poole seal a history-making trophy treble.

He becomes the third rider to be retained by the Pirates, with Richard Lawson and Zach Cook also having signed for next season.

Thomsen said: “I am really pleased to be signing for Poole again. It means that I did something right in the end and you applauded it by inviting me back for 2025.

“I can't be more happy to sign for Poole because that is about the only place I wanted to be.

“I think I grew as a rider in 2024 and there were people that really helped me out and showed me the way and I am super happy to be back to entertain you guys for another year. That's the plan!"

Thomsen is set to begin the campaign on a 4.41 average.

Promoter Danny Ford added: "I think we all saw the true potential of Toby at the crucial stage of the season last year and that makes his average something of a real steal as we look to build to the 40-point limit.

“Without a doubt he has become a fans’ favourite, chiefly for the effort he invests in his riding.

“His post-race celebrations are something the fans enjoy and we all hope to see plenty more of those in 2025."

Meanwhile, youngster Vinnie Foord will not be returning to Wimborne Road in 2025, having earlier this week been announced in the Workington Comets’ septet.
