Cook 'can't wait' for Pirates season to get started
Skipper Zach Cook this week began to get himself dialled into the Poole Pirates track and insisted: “I can’t wait to be racing.”
The Aussie charger, who has taken the captaincy from brother Ben for 2025, had his first practice session as the Pirates look to defend their domestic treble of trophies.
Cook has already featured competitively for Premiership club Belle Vue this season.
But having got a feel for the Wimborne Road circuit, he is looking forward to getting started at Poole.
He told the club’s social media channels: “It was nice. Dan (Ford) and the others have put in a lot of work over the winter and it was my first laps round there this year.
“I was impressed. The track was nice and I can’t wait to be racing.”
Poole are set to host their annual press and practice session at Wimborne Road on Wednesday, before their first home meeting of the season against Oxford on Good Friday.
“It’s a good chance for the boys that haven’t ridden for a while to get some solid laps in, dial in setups and get the feel for it,” said Cook.
Poole kick off their competitive schedule at Oxford in the BSN Series on April 16.
